  Saw– Widescreen DTS Edition (USA)

I was intrigued to see that SAW came out with special packaging, but did not market or hype up their edition. Instead of screaming "SAW - Special Edition", they simply released this edition without any fanfare.

It's packaging definitely made it stand apart from the other standard releases on the shelves. But the question is, how does its style, design, and build stand up sitting on our shelves along with all these wonderful LE, CE, and SE's that we own?

An interesting style of design for a movie that is all about hidden items, hidden identities, hidden ideas...you name it. The transparent look of this set goes against the basic direction of the movie, which is odd and puzzles me. No pun intended.

The clear dvd case is enclosed in a clear slipcase, which slips either off the top or bottom of the DVD. The front of the slipcase has no image, only the SAW logo, the the tagline of the movie, actors names, a quote, the "widescreen" logo, and what appears to be small saw marks across the top.

The back of the slipcase is printed with white at about 80%, allowing you to just barely see through it. A dead hand rests below a listing of the DVD features and a paragraph giving you the movies base plot.

Pulling the slipcase off, you're presented with a clear dvd case. There is absolutely nothing printed on the case. The two dvds in the set rest on a plastic swivel sheet in the middle of the case. The first disc houses the movie, the second contains the included extras. Both dvds are printed in full color.

That's about it. A 2 disc set that comes in different packaging than usual. No extras are included.
