Scarface "Limited"
Deluxe Edition (USA)
written by Juice / photos by Juice "Say hello to my little friend!" - Tony Montana as played by Al Pacino. No-one can deny the power this film had when it was first released, and still has on gangster movies, drug related movies, and even hip-hop culture. I'm sure Tony Montana would have been appalled at the bare-bones releases of "his" story, and thankfully his prayers have been answered with this "Limited" Deluxe Edition. It's almost
like the designers thought to themselves, "What would Tony want?",
and did their best to deliver. Would Tony be happy if he was presented
with this boxed set, or would he strike down the creators with a sneer
and a snort of cocaine. Read on to find out! Black. Snake. Skin.
That's the first
thing you notice when you see this big, beautiful box. The entire
box is covered in faux snake skin, black, which a nice high gloss
finish. The skin is textured, you can feel the "scales"
as you run your hand across it. Embossed on the front
of the box in large silver letters is the name of the movie, SCARFACE,
and the name of the lead actor, Al Pacino. Embossed with them are
Tony Montana's initials/monogram, TM. This is printed with a matt
finish, making it fade in and out as you move the box. It's a great
effect. The box flips open,
and is hindged on the back. In a purely opulant manner, the silver
and black DVD Scarface box rests in a bed of soft, lucious, pillowy
faux satin. Tony would have approved of this if he had this box
in his hands. Spread across the
interior back portion of the box is a large image which is a collage
of stills from the movie.
This is a "limited" edition, but from what I can tell it's available almost anywhere you look. It's a bit pricey, running around $50 USD, but it's worth every penny. - Juice's Verdict - - Build
