A stunning, thought provoking, and beautiful movie, Schindlers lists deserves a great set. The USA release, a collectors gift set, receives a unique treatment. This set comes with an OST, a senitype, a certificate of authenticity, and a booklet showcasing the imagery from the movie.

The moment you pull this out of your shipping box, you realize you have a set worthy of showcasing. The contents of the set are completely encased in a sturdy, clear plastic box...in effect, a cage. The 6 metal bars that are seperated into two rows of 3 further give you a sense that the contents are caged, and you are required to set the DVD free by opening the box. Etched into the back of the case are the names and numbers of those on Schindlers list. Very powerful design. If anyone has visited the Holocaust Memorial in Boston, MA (USA) you will notice that this is designed in a similar fashion...numbers etched into glass which bleed off the top, sides, and bottom.

 

The contents of the set rest inside a rectangular sheet of heavy paper, printed on them are more names, the memorable picture from the movie of the Girl in Reds hand, and the Academy Award Winner statement. There are two holes punched through this open ended "slip case", so it appears to float inside the box. Pulling it off the metal bars, you can slip all of the contents of the set out of either the bottom or top of the case. Inside we have the DVD and OST in a 4 panel fold out, a Certificate of Authenticity, a senitype, a chapter list, and a book that showcases stills from the movie.

The DVD and OST are housed in a nice 4 panel fold out, with the DVD on the left and the OST on the right. The outside panel is adorned with the image in the movie where Schindler's list begins to be created, and the inside shows again, the list of names, dates, and numbers of those on the list. Note the pocket on the left side of the interior of the DVD/OST box. This came empty, I'm not sure if they had originally planned on putting in the chapter list sheet here, and decided not to.

The book is very nice, a hard-cover book with a quote on the back. Inside are beautiful spreads of imagery taken from the movie.

The Certificate of Authenticity comes on a nice vellum paper, and is written in gold and black writing. It lists information about the movie, and the contents of the collectors gift set.

The Chapter list folds out, and also contains more information about the movie. It's nice to have Chapter lists that aren't simply a single sheet of paper.

The senitype is enclosed in a thick, sturdy textured sheet, and matches the image printed on top. The interesting thing about the senitype is that it's numbered, and in fact, it appears it's limited. A direct quote from the back of the senitype states, "The Schindlers List Senitype is a limited edition art graphic...". The senitype I have is numbered 54590.
