Twins Effect II LE (Hong Kong)

written by Juice / photos by Juice

Only 5000 copies of this LE were created, commemorating the follow up to the popular movie "Twin Effect". Following up from the orginal movies LE, the studio released an LE for Twins Effect II. How does it stack up against the orginal movies LE? Read on and find out!

The box is sturdy, and fairly small, only a little larger than a dvd case and a little over an inch deep. The black box has two small windows in the front, allowing you to view the sword of destiny. Scrollwork is inscribed in the 4 corners of the front of the box, with a deep red color embeded within. Nice detailing for the box.

The back of the box is covered by a slip-sheet that is glued on. Flip it back, and you see more info printed onto the box itself. The sides of the box have curved cut-outs to allow you easy access to the contents. A great little extra that helps you open the box, since it fits tightly.

Opening up the box, you see the mini-sword presented in a thin plastic holding case. It snaps out fairly easily, is very detailed, and has a good weight to it. It's wonderful to see attention paid to something small, the quality of the sword is leaps and bounds over the sword in the Thailand Twins Effect LE.

Notice the gold strip of clothe in the image above. Pull on that, and the plastic case for the sword comes out of the box. Under it lies more contents of this LE. We have the 2 DVDs in teh set, a chapter list, the sword, two double sided cards in plastic pouches, a "animate" holographic mini-poster, and a year long self-standing calendar.

The calender is stuffed full of movie still and press shots from the movie. It comes on a heavy, fold out base and is printed on black cardstock. The black wire-o binding at the top complements the package.

The holographic card shifts images when you move it, swapping out the two main characters. The images below do not show it justice, it has a great effect in person and is a good play on how the characters in the movie begin to reflect portions of each others personalities.

Some surpisingly good content in this LE! I'm impressed for a low price LE, they do a great job making you feel like you're receiving excellent value for the cost. A fun movie with an equally fun LE for the collectors out there!

- Juice's Verdict -

- Build Quality: 7.5 -

I enjoy the little touches. The scroll work on the cover, the die-cut sides to allow easier opening, the two windows allowing you to view the sword, and the nice gold pull tab inside. The box itself is fashioned out of tough cardboard. .

- Content and Extras: 8 -

There is a good amount of extras in this LE, and it includes one you can use all year (the calendar), one that is great for showcasing (the sword), and one that is fun to show off to friends (the holographic card).

- Overall Rating: 8 -

This is a good LE! I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of extras, and I enjoy its quiet style as it sits in my DVD case. It's nice to open it and keep pulling out items that you can inspect a little closer and still be pleased about. If you enjoyed the movie, toss out some extra money and find this LE!
