James Bond Limited Attachè Case (Hong Kong)

written by Tsunami / photos by Tsunami

Finally! Is this monstrosity from Hong Kong the best release of all time - is this the greatest thing ever to land on my shelf? Time to find out! NOTE: Before I go any further I would like to point out that this collection does not contain "Die Another Day", or the two unofficial bond-movies "Never Say Never Again" and "Casino Royale".

"Bond, James Bond ...limited edition dvd collection attachè case from hong kong *gasps*". Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, they're all here in a attachè case filled to the rim with hour on hour with 007-licous entertainment. This sweeeet set is not a look-alike, it IS as big as it looks, and it weighs more than you'd think.

Starting with the exterior. Front consisting of the trademark "007" logo embossed in the brushed steel set and in the lower right corner a plate stating the agent number assigned to you. This is also a neat way of indicating which number you've got in the production line. It has screws so you can remove the plate and have your own named carved on the back of the plate. Something I haven't taken the time to do. The case feels extremely solid when you hold it in your hands, but at the same time you're careful not to bump it too much into stuff. Even though its solid, its not like you buy a brand new Hummer and go crashing it into fire hydrants just cuz; "it's solid".
On the top you'll find a pretty solid handle. One strong enough to support the weights of the contents, and ofcourse, what James Bond set would be complete without a working combination lock? Flip in 000 and open the set, inside you'll find instructions on how to set you're own combinations. Now who in their right mind would not set it as 007? Those who thinks its cooler to use their "Agent #'s" maybe.

On the bottom of the briefcase theres the 2 hinges and the 4 spikes looks pretty nice for spikes and hinges to be, its not like you flip up the set when you're friends come over and say "but look at this, the most underrated feature of the set!" with a big smirk on your face. As long as they don't look hideous and rust they're pretty much great no matter what. The hinges has a nice feature that the Matrix case is without, which is actually only half the size of the JB set, it has a block on the hinge that lets you upon the lid to a 90 degree angle and and holds it there for you, where the Matrix case just totally flats out to a 180 degree angle which is pretty annoying actually. So moving on to the inside:

There's alot of stuff, but we've gotta start somewhere. In the lid you'll find two pockets, in one of them there's the instructions for how to configure your lock and a DVD-sampler, in the other pocket theres a CD-Soundtrack with the best hits from the Bond movies. In the case itself there are 4 compartments, 3 of them containing each 2 of the 6 digipacs. The compartment in the lower left corner hold a mini-car (Aston Martin) and a envelope with postcard-size miniposters from all the movies, high quality prints. The mini-car is really cool, comes in a nice display and and a protective plexi-cover looks really nice on display. The CD has a nice Bond design and has some great tunes, every bond fan will love this CD, even our Norwegian pride; A-ha - "Living Daylights" has made it onto the cd, a great tune as well :)

The digipacs are just one with the design of this entire case and looks very cool, as they kind have a little old fashion look over them. Everything is done in grey and black, 6 digipacs in containing 19 discs in total, in addition to the the soundtrack and the sampler makes this a 21-disc set. The first digipac has the artwork of Sean Connery on both sides with the "Sean Connery" written vertically in an embossed text, containing 3 dvds. This goes for the second digipac as well, 3 dvds this time as well. The next two boxes is Roger Moore movies, some nice artwork of him on front and back, the first box contains 4 dvds, and the second contains 3 dvds. Then theres a box with Lazenby and Dalton, on this box one side is dedicated to each actor. And finally theres a box with Pierce Brosnan, as noted before, this set does not contain "Die Another Day", so this box contains 3 dvds. Each box has also an artwork that can be shown when completely folding out the digipac and looking at the back of the digipac. A big photo of each actor, and on the Lazenby/Dalton box theres a big photo of Lazenby and Dalton posing together. So you can see these boxes are not chronological, as Lazenby appeared as Bond in one movie before Sean Connery's last (official) movie as James Bond. Each and every box also contains the inlays from all of the special edition dvds for all of the James Bond movies. Note that these are all special edition dvds PACKED with extras.

Overall, I should've just stated so in the header. This IS the greatest dvd-release to date, a real treat for all 007 fans, and such a dedication to perfection from Deltamac once. And if you don't like James Bond (at least the old ones) to begin with, then you shouldn't be reading this. I love this set, it really do. again.
