Hulk Limited Box (Norway)

written by Tsunami / photos by Tsunami

Have been alot of request on a review for this box so we pushed it forward in the massive line of reviews we have coming! The set I'm reviewing today is the Norwegian boxset, The set has been released in very many countries, but almost every country got their own boxes translated into their own language. Its said to be limited, but I believe only parts of the LE are limited such as the photo's. But lets save all that for the review! Here we go:

I've had my eyes on this set walking in and out of the same store for days when I finally got the courage to just buy it, the set was very cheap, so I was hoping the quality wouldn't be the same. Looking at the outside of the box, it looks pretty nice. The green fist comes smashing trough a wall, its almost like we really don't need the "Hulk" text above the fist, its pretty self-explainatory.

Holding it in you're hands, it feels pretty cool, the fist is very nicely designed, for a Hulk-fist to be, it looks and feels pretty realistic! And it pretty much looks very sexy on you're shelf cuz plastic has an amazing way of just looking very nice in many different lighting schemes, as opposed to some cardboard sets you feel like you have to have them in the exact right angle because its got a bump here and there and the seems don't really come together all that nicely on the other side. The plastic sets are built to be displayed, I know it seems wierd to defend such a low-cost material as plastic, but in some way I feel it really is very nice on some releases, and is a welcome change from all the cardboard we see. The downside to plastic is that if you drop it; It'll shatter, and that is pretty much an impossible fix. So dropping this set isn't the smartest thing you'll do. But to move on: To open the set you push a button on the bottom of the set and pull up the front cover with the fist. At first I tried opening it as a keepcase but soon discovered I would have to be a little Hulk myself to do so.
Moving on to the inside, so what could there be, well you open up the set, and there are two compartments. The top one holding the regular 2-disc dvd, and if you remove the dvd-cover you'll reveal a an original minisize Hulk comic book. The minibook is for those of you who own the Spiderman Giftset identical in format, and is a great nostalgic addition for all those old school Hulk fans, it's get some read-troughs if you're into the hulk, and probably a couple of glances even though you're not particulary a hulk fan.

So in the bottom compartment you'll find a pocketbook formatted color book with the new hulk, a bit darker than the original hulk, kinda showing the process of how the hulk has evolved from the beginning to now. The book is extremy nice, colors are just sexy, the cover of the book has nice texture, where the picture areas are smooth and the black areas between and around are a bit more rough, giving it a look that work has gone into making this book. Next there's a small booklet, with pictures from the movie and a couple of pages of trivia about the movie, the making of, and the Hulk. Interesting reading, I've always felt they can't go wrong with including trivia books/booklets! Next theres the item which is supposed to be the limited one. The postcardsized storyboard artwork-prints. There's an envelope and inside you'll find an indexing card explaining every scene, and theres a total of 10 cards. The pictures are a very nice touch

Finally theres the extra disc, the 3rd disc which is attached at the plate which seperates the compartments containing additional bonus material. And when all the content of the box is removed there's an extra little detail on the bottom of the compartment. The logo "Hulk" is carved here as well.

Overall, this is a nice release, packed with extras in both the physical form and on the discs. A Hulk fan would obviously choose this box over the regular 2-disc keepcase. Comparing it to other LE's in the same price-range, this is way ahead of most everything else and is a definite buy to any collector. Also due to its price-range and the fact that even though its limited it never seems to run out of stock makes it a little less exclusive, I sure wasn't dissappointed over what I got, I was actually very surprised they'd manage to get so much relevant and interesting stuff added to the release

- Tsunami's Verdict -

- Build Quality: 8 -

The build is excellent, the coloring of the exterior of the set is really nice, the Hulk-fist is very nicely detailed, everythings just smashing. The reason why its not getting a 10 is because everything has to be measured on a scale to seperate the truely awesome/excellent/flawless releases from the truely poor releases, to sets like this which is truely great for its pricerange. Had it had costed more it would've gotten a lower grade.

- Content and Extras: 8 -

Tons of extras, the 2 disc included in the regular 2-disc release, and an additional 3rd disc which with additional bonus material, artwork prints, original hulk comic book, pocketbook formatted book of the new hulk, and a trivia booklet. All great extras, the set is a real bargain!

- Overall Rating: 7 -

Im giving it a 7 this is just to place it on a grander scale of the other sets, 7 is what we would like to call great sets, and definitly worth buying. were as 10 would mean that its a set you MUST buy, 1 meaning its a set you should burn in the store to avoid others from buying the piece of crap, and 5 were its worth looking into if you're a fan, or just want something a little more special than a keepcase or digipac for the movie. So its truely a great set, a real bargain.
