Tremors The Legacy Box (Germany)

written by Tsunami / photos by Tsunami

Hailing from Germany, this nice lookin' box with a plastic base sure does look like a worthy release for this cult series. Allthough not limited it sure looks smashing enough to fool me! So here's what at least some of ya'll been waitin' for.

After months of looking at some nice promo-pics of the box, the package came around in short time and it was time to open up the box. Excited as I was, eager to see how it would match up to the promo-pics we'd all been seing for some time (*).

* = All this actually happened several months ago, just added for dramatic effect.

First thing I noticed as a difference to the promo-pics, was the box containing the dvd was not a plastic box as the promo-picture might make it look like but a very thin carboard box which opens at the top. Purely the look of the cardboardbox's exterior and design isn't bad. The embossed letters are really nice and the color and texture of the box matches the base well. but it just feels flimsy once you touch it. The base however, this is a beauty. Very nice use of colors to accentuate parts of the head. The teeth, gums and skin is just amazing, and I love how the box like fades in color making the bottom of the base looks like solid rocks, a very nice touch indeed. The base also stays true to the films by making the base universally recognizable by that every cover in of the films in this series features a head like that coming trough the ground. I have nothing to complain about the base, really something fans of the films will appreciate.

Really looks like the sloopy work starts here. Seems like they just really tried to make a cool thing to hold the dvds and it stops there. The box with the dvds is pretty flimsy, allthough it looks okey designwise, its when you're about to open it you start noticing how they could've gone with a better solution. pretty hard not to bend the lid abit while opening the top of the box. Also looking inside this box isn't extremely exciting either, you find 4 keepcases with the 4 movies, nothing special about them. I was hoping for a digipacs with nice designs and a really solid box so the interior was pretty much a big let down.

All in all, yeah if you like Tremors, go right ahead and buy it. It cheap, but so is the quality of everything but the base. So you're warned! But exterior-wise, it looks nice in the shelf and I don't regret buying it

The base is just excellent and earns this release all the points you see there, the rest is cheap and flimsy.

What? Lets just say the worm ate them.
