8 Mile Limited Tin (Korea)
written by Tsunami / photos by Tsunami
This cute little tin-edition from Korea is stated as limited but I wonder how limited it really is when they're still selling them over at KoreanDVDs.com 1 and a half year after its original release.
| In my early days of collection limited editions
this release was just awesome. It still is nice to look at and looks better compared to many of
the LE's on the shelf here. The cover is basically just ported over from the DVD-cover inside, and the text "8 Mile" is embossed. |

Flip it over and you can see a portion of a map from Detroit.
Nice touch to the design! On the top there is a text; "If you only get one shot, one opportunity;
would you capture it - or just let it slip?". Words to think over, and very much the topic of the
movie itself so a nice call by the designers of the art. On the bottom part of the back you'll find
an pretty ugly sticker with the basic facts about the content. This could've been done much better.

Opening it, it feels like any tinbox, like a good old lunch box. There's a nice 26-page fullcolor
booklet inside the tin box, with pictures from the movie, the production and magazines and a good
share of trivia about the movie. You'll be flipping through this, trust me. Other than that you have
the single-disc version of the movie sporting a very good DTS-track on the english side and a japanese
5.1 track for those who might find interest in how rap-battles sound in Japan.
- Tsunami's Verdict -
- Build Quality: 7 -
Its kinda what I've come to expect from tin edition. This one having the ability to open in both front and back, which I though was a little strange. Tin is thin, but its better than the regular stuff.
- Content and Extras: 3 -
It's the single-disc DTS version of the movie, nice extra-material and the little booklet is very interesting, but would it have killed them to include the soundtrack to this kind of a movie?
- Overall Rating: 4 -
Overall an okey tin edition, the booklet and the DTS-track is what really saves this release. It's cheap so you might as well go ahead and buy it.
